Rebuild CPMC

Overview

California Pacific Medical Center, which provides health care for more than 40% of San Francisco patients, plans to modernize our system of care.

In part, this plan is spurred by the California law, SB 1953, which requires all hospital inpatient facilities to meet stricter earthquake safety standards no later than January 1, 2015. California Pacific Medical Center also sees this as an opportunity to create environments that better support the needs of our patients, their families, doctors and affiliated health care providers in the 21st Century.

We evaluated options at each of our existing campuses and developed a plan that would meet the state mandate, while also serving important medical center and neighborhood needs such as:

  • avoiding the disruption of critical medical services
  • creating a more pleasant patient/family experience in an efficient and functional work environment for physicians and staff
  • allowing for future growth to ensure that California Pacific can continue to provide the highest quality of health care for future generations.

We believe our goals can be achieved with our plan to Rebuild CPMC, which includes renovations at the Davies, Pacific and St. Luke's campuses and the creation of a new campus at Van Ness and Geary.
