Davies Campus

Completing a major renovation of our Davies Campus is one pillar of our plan to Rebuild CPMC. This campus has deep roots in the Castro District and a reputation for pioneering research and treatment of HIV/AIDS as well as for microsurgery, and for providing compassionate care for patients and their loved ones.
Our vision for the future of this campus is to transform it into the medical destination of choice for neurosciences services, reconstructive microsurgery and acute rehabilitation, while maintaining its character as a full-service community hospital, including emergency services. Our plan is the result of collaboration with the community, as well as health care advocates and our own physicians and staff.
Our Davies Campus has already undergone significant renovation, including structural upgrades to keep existing buildings in compliance with state earthquake safety mandates. It has also benefitted from non-structural upgrades such as improved fire/sprinkler systems, and streetscape improvements.
To complete the renovation, the planned medical office building – future home of our Neurosciences Institute – would include:
- Expanded care and services for patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain tumors, and ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease)
- Enhanced rehabilitation services to allow patients to receive same-site treatment and follow-up care
- An enclosed Muni pavilion for patients and the community, including connection to the hospital in order to facilitate easier access to the campus
- Improved landscaping and a widened sidewalk on Noe Street to maintain the character of the neighborhood
